Janet Velie Bride of Robert Tucker
At St. Columba's Episcopal Church here, Janet Velie, daughter of Mrs. Robert R. Velie of McLean, Va. and the late Colonel Velie, was united in marriage to Robert L. Tucker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Tucker of Hazleton, Pa. on May 14.The reception was held at the Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase.
Escorted to the altar by her brother, Dennis A. Velie of Grosse Pointe, Mi., the bride carried her grandmother's Episcopal prayerbook covered with white sweetheart roses and cascading stephanotis. She wore an ivory princess line gown accented with pearled Alencon lace, featuring a Victorian collar, long sleeves, and a chapel length train. A chapel length illusion veil was attached to a matching pearl and lace Juliet cap. Her attendants, Mrs. Dennis A. Velie and Mrs. Ronald Hanley, wore identical A-line silhouette gowns of ivory chiffon crepe with painted gold flowers. Dr. Leo Corazza was best man for Mr. Tucker. The bride's niece and nephew, Darah Leigh and Douglas Kenneth Velie, were flower girl and ring bearer, respectively.
The bride received her early education in Charleston, W. Va. and graduated from Langley High School in McLean. In 1970, she took a degree from Cirginia Intermont College. Mr. Tucker was graduated from Bloomsburg State College (Pa.) in 1968.
The couple honeymood at The Homestead, Hot Springs, Va., and reside in New Jersey where Mr. Tucker is a member of the Giants football team.
